TXAPA Names Southlake 2006 Community of the Year!

Each year the Texas American Planning Association (TXAPA) recognizes organizations and communities for outstanding contributions to planning in Texas. This year the TXAPA Awards Committee selected Southlake as the recipient of the Chapter's 2006 Community of the Year Award. This award is given to a town, city or county which has provided an outstanding contribution to planning. Southlake was selected for this award for its excellent quality of life and its commitment to maintaining economic and environmental sustainability, innovative development ordinances and plans, and a built-environment which places an emphasis on place-making, environmental preservation, and pedestrian-oriented development. City staff accepted the award at the TXAPA conference in Corpus Christi in October.

Less paperwork, more services!

Tired of filling out Interlibrary Loan and Materials Purchase Suggestion forms? Now you can fill them out from the website or the online catalog!

Interlibrary Loan allows you to borrow books and other items from distant libraries. You are responsible for the return postage (usually less than $2.00), and it may take 1-2 weeks to arrive, but the process gives you the means to borrow obscure, out-of-print, and hard-to-acquire items from all over the country (and even the world)!

The Materials Purchase Suggestion forms gives you the means to notify us that you think that the Southlake Library should consider purchasing an item. We can not guarantee that we will end up adding the item to the collection, but we give careful consideration to every suggestion we receive!

Look for the link to our new online survey, too, and let us know how we can improve our service to you!
